Chutney is a hot spicy appetizer made with plenty HOT-HOT Pepper and Sour Fruits. Chutney is also a singing Art form indigenous to Trinidad & Tobago born out of the Sons and Daughters and is known for its HOT-HOT Spicy Rhythm music and songs. A Chutney can be sang on any topics.

The people aprox.1.2 million in population with their roots back to every part of this universe including Africa, China, Syria, Lebanon, Britain, France, Spain, Portugal, The Mediterranean and from India. The East Indians contribute to over 40% of the population. The major impact in singing and Music Art forms were brought from India since 1845 or over 150 Years ago to the shores of T&T. These fore parents left their land with the memories of their custom, tradition and most of all, the songs and Music which came embedded in their hearts; and were passed down from generation to generation , which is still practiced today.

 

Chutney a name given to a hot spicy presentation of songs which were made popular by the ladies, having a "good time " in a wedding or birth and the men also having a "good time" in a bar or an informal get-together , it's basically identified with its rhythm formulated from the Indo-trinbagonian Hindi classical songs and the incorporating or influence by the music of its environment of the various ethnic people and the expressions that comes out of the mix culture in the society living together.

Chutney selections are sung on any topics. It's musical fusion is very popular for its English and Hindi lyrics. Cross-over music includes modern western musical instruments known as Soca Chutney. However the sounds of traditional Dholak, Dhantal and harmonium enriches the expressions emerging. Chutney music results from this vibrant fusion.

Today Chutney singing has no barriers and is accepted by everyone. T & T is known as a rainbow Country and has undergone many changes through Musical Innovations which has taken place.
